The NHL offseason is reaching its diminuendo a little under two months away from the opening night of regular-season play. Most of the offseason’s major moves, whether they be trades or free agent signings, have already happened.
Yet a number of players are looking for new homes ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, with free agent center Jack Roslovic being among them.
Roslovic’s numbers from last year, which he spent with the Carolina Hurricanes, don’t scream All-Star-caliber production. He contributed 22 goals and 17 assists (39 points) while averaging just under 14 minutes of playing time per game, but the Hurricanes allowed 10 more goals than they scored with him on the ice.
He did, however, provide a consistent presence for the Hurricanes, missing just one regular-season game and appearing in nine of their 15 playoff contests.
In an Aug. 3 episode of the “32 Thoughts” podcast, Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman said there are a number of NHL teams interested in potentially signing Roslovic.
“He’s the best available player remaining. And, obviously, he hasn’t found anything he 100 percent likes. But there are definitely a few teams poking around there,” Friedman said. “I’ve heard five or six teams. So, he needs to get to something he feels comfortable with,”
Roslovic, who is waiting to evaluate all his options before going through with signing a contract, has specifically drawn interest from the Toronto Maple Leafs, per Friedman.
A move abroad for Roslovic shouldn’t be ruled out at this time either, though. EliteProspects scout Dylan Griffing reported that multiple KHL teams have sent in bids for the unrestricted free agent.
Roslovic, a first-round (No. 25) overall pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, has put together a decade-long NHL career thus far. Prior to joining the Hurricanes ahead of last season, he previously played for the Winnipeg Jets (2016-20), Columbus Blue Jackets (2020-2024) and New York Rangers (second half of 2023-24).
