If you didn’t know who Cam Miller was before the Las Vegas Raiders’ 2025 preseason debut last week, you do now.
The 2025 sixth-round pick, who was reportedly endorsed by Tom Brady before Las Vegas drafted him, was impressive in his NFL debut, completing 6-of-7 passes for 76 yards and one touchdown, which came on a 41-yard bomb to wide receiver Shedrick Jackson.
And, if not for kicker Daniel Carlson’s last-second field goal getting blocked, Miller would have led the Raiders to a comeback victory after they trailed 23-13 upon the North Dakota State product’s entrance into the game.
Raiders fans weren’t the only ones impressed by Miller’s showing.
CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin gave Miller a shoutout in his article using one word to describe 40 quarterbacks from preseason Week 1. Benjamin aptly called Miller “clutch.”
“Clutch. Did Tom Brady strike gold helping the Raiders add the NDSU product in the sixth round?” Benajmin asked. “The rookie flashed sturdy downfield touch to headline a Las Vegas comeback against the Seahawks.”
We get it, it’s just one preseason game and Miller was playing against the backups’ backups, but he looked very poised for a signal-caller seeing his first NFL action, something nobody can fake.
Miller is listed as No. 3 on the Raiders’ quarterback depth chart, but fans are so hyped they’re ready to trade Aidan O’Connell and move Miller up a spot.
“We knew that he would get the chance in the fourth quarter to do this and he did a terrific job. I’m so proud of him for hanging in there through all those situations,” head coach Pete Carroll said of Miller. “Really, credit to him and the guys that made the catches.”
There’s still a long way to go before the Raiders can trust Miller as Geno Smith’s backup, but there’s no doubt Miller at least made some progress on that feat and he’ll look to keep the momentum going in preseason Week 2 on Saturday.
