Steelers, Dolphins trade idea involves two draft picks for Tyreek Hill

The Miami Dolphins’ trading of Jalen Ramsey this offseason showed that the organization is willing to offload veteran players. As a result, could Tyreek Hill be the next to leave South Florida before the NFL trade deadline in November?

Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski outlined possible landing spots for Hill and the kinds of trade packages the Dolphins might get in return. One team that makes sense is the Pittsburgh Steelers, who previously acquired Ramsey from Miami.

Dolphins send: Tyreek Hill

Steelers send: LB Nick Herbig, 2026 fourth- and seventh-round draft picks.

“Earlier this summer, the acquisition of wide receiver DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks created excitement, even with the team’s previous uncertainty at quarterback,” Sobleski wrote. “Pittsburgh subsequently traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys, again creating a need for a legitimate No. 2 target.

“By pairing Hill’s blazing speed with Metcalf’s physicality and Rodgers pulling the strings, the Steelers may have finally moved the needle and elevated their status as a legitimate contender.”

In two of his three seasons in Miami, Hill has recorded over 1,700 receiving yards and seven or more touchdowns. With Metcalf taking some of the focus off of him and Rodgers under center, a move to the Steelers could reignite this production.

As for the Dolphins, they add a young defensive piece in Herbig to be a potential leader on defense having recorded 8.5 sacks and 49 tackles in 30 games started over two seasons for Pittsburgh.

“For the Dolphins, the return won’t be as good as adding a 28-year-old, five-time Pro Bowl safety,” Sobleski added. “Miami can certainly demand more in a trade if the franchise is willing to eat a portion of Hill’s upcoming bonus and/or base salary. Though the organization has already stated publicly it doesn’t want to trade him, which hardens its negotiating stance.

“However, a benefit exists in simply moving Hill’s contract, saving a windfall of salary-cap space and rolling it over to next season. In turn, the team can bring back a 23-year-old defender in Nick Herbig.”
