ARLINGTON, TX – In game one of the 2023 World Series, Corey Seager hit a game tying home run in the ninth and Adolis Garcia hit a walk off shot in the 11th versus the Diamondbacks.
Tonight, it was Rowdy Tellez and Jake Burger’s turn to play hero versus the same team.
The Rangers started a three game set vs the Diamondbacks with Nathan Eovaldi taking the mound.
Eovaldi, who had been dominant as of late, looked to put in another solid outing after allowing just one baserunner through eight innings in his last outing.
However, Arizona jumped on him quickly with Tyler Locklear picking up his second homer of the year, Corbin Carroll hitting his 26th and Geraldo Perdomo hitting his 12th to make it an early 5-0 lead.
Eovaldi ended up allowing the most runs he’s allowed in an outing this year giving up five through five innings bringing his ERA this season up to a 1.71.

The Rangers would eventually go down 6-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
But after a four run sixth headlined by Corey Seager’s second RBI of the night and a Wyatt Langford three-run shot for his 16th of the season, the Rangers pulled to within one.
Neither team would score until the bottom of the ninth when recent acquisition Rowdy Tellez came up big for the squad once again hitting his 13th homer of the season to lead off the inning to tie the game.
The Rangers would strand Adolis on second after he doubled in that inning, sending the game to extras.

This would be Texas’ 12th extra inning game this season tying them for the sixth most in all of baseball this season after being the last team to play in an extra innings game.
Trade deadline pickup Phil Maton, who recently earned his first save, came into pitch in the tenth and sent the Diamondbacks down in order while also picking up a strike out.
After electing to intentionally walk Corey Seager, Jake Burger stepped up to the plate with one out and runners on first and second. In a 1-2 count, Burger delivered a line drive down the left field line to give the Rangers the win.
The two teams meet once again at 7:05 P.M. CST tomorrow for game two of their three game set with Jack Leiter taking the mound for the Rangers and Anthony Desclafani pitching for the Diamondbacks.
