In just a matter of months, Rodrygo has gone from one of Real Madrid’s strongest offensive contributors to being on the outskirts of making the matchday squad.
And as Los Blancos look to sell one more player before the end of the transfer window, the Brazilian winger has been widely believed to be the one the club is looking to offload.
Rodrygo appeared in 54 matches across seven competitions for Real Madrid last season, providing 25 goal contributions (14 goals and 11 assists) across 3,452 minutes played, per Transfermarkt. But if the Club World Cup was any indication, Rodrygo is currently behind Arda Güler in the pecking order and could find himself further away from being a starter when the team’s plan for Franco Mastantuono is revealed.
Rodrygo has been linked to a move away from Real Madrid for much of the summer, as the club looks for a potential suitor that can match their €90 million to €100 million ($104.7 million to $116.3 million) asking price. According to CaughtOffside’s Ahad Shaukat, four Premier clubs — Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City — have inquired about signing him.
Each club have their own reasons for doing so. Liverpool is continuing to bolster their attack while they pursue a second consecutive Premier League title and see Rodrygo as a fallback if they are unable to get a deal for Alexander Isak across the line. Arsenal view Rodrygo similarly while they chase Eberechi Eze’s signature.
Tottenham are interested in having Rodrygo be the club’s replacement for Heung-Min Son (who recently transferred to Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles FC), while Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has long been fond of Rodrygo since before the latter made a move to Spain in the first place.
He has also drawn interest from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, but it is Rodrygo’s preference to stay in Europe.
Amid all these rumors, though, Rodrygo recently pledged his allegiance to Real Madrid on social media. On Tuesday, Rodrygo published a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a two-word caption: “HALA MADRID” (followed by a white heart).

Speculation around Rodrygo’s destination for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign will continue through to the end of the summer. But the one thing known is that many options are on the table for the 24-year-old talent.
