Team World filled another roster spot at the Laver Cup with a familiar face.
American Frances Tiafoe, the World No. 14 entering the Cincinnati Open, will participate in his sixth Laver Cup, which matches Team Europe’s Alexander Zverev as the most in the event’s eight-year history.
Tiafoe is the fifth member of Team World to commit to the event. He is joined by fellow Americans Taylor Fritz (World No. 4), Ben Shelton (No. 6) and Tommy Paul (No. 16) in addition to 18-year-old Brazilian Joao Fonseca (No. 52). There is one roster spot still to be announced.

“Frances is a perfect fit for the Laver Cup,” said Team World captain Andre Agassi said in a statement. “He’s a big-match player, who thrives in the team environment, and is a threat in both singles and doubles. Beyond that, he brings incredible energy while on court and to our bench when supporting the team. His presence lifts everyone around him. I’m thrilled to have him on our team.”
Tiafoe clinched Team World’s first win over Team Europe in 2022 with a dramatic 1-6, 7-6, 10-8 final match victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas. He is 6-5 overall in both singles and doubles.

“There’s nothing like Laver Cup,” Tiafoe said in a statement. “I love playing for Team World and competing alongside guys who are usually my rivals. We’ve built something special, and I can’t wait to bring that same energy to San Francisco. Playing at home in front of U.S. fans means a lot – and I want to do everything I can to help us win.”
The Laver Cup will take place in San Francisco’s Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, from Sept. 19-21.
Team Europe, which has won five of the first seven editions of the event, has four of its six roster spots filled. Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz (World No. 2), Germany’s Zverev (No. 3), Denmark’s Holger Rune (No. 9) and Norway’s Casper Ruud (No. 13) are on team captain Yannick Noah’s squad thus far.
