Seattle Mariners fans have already fallen in love with Josh Naylor.
It’s not hard to see why, either.
The 5-foot-10, 235-pound first baseman has already clobbered four home runs and stolen 10 bases since being traded to Seattle a few days before the deadline.
Naylor was having a solid season with the Diamondbacks, who were sellers due to a sub-.500 record, and Seattle is gaining from Arizona’s loss.

Now, Mariners fans on social media are clamoring for a Naylor contract extension. He’s currently in the last year of his deal, which is why he was available at the deadline.
I can’t say it enough. I want this man locked up before the end of the season. Have his contract sitting in his locker when he gets to it after the game https://t.co/4Y0i5gu9ay

It won’t come cheap.
Spotrac, the contract database website, does market value projections based on past players’ age, production and deals.
And that website gives Naylor a contract market value of five years and $100.1 million.
Naylor just turned 28 in June, so he likely has a lot of prime baseball left to be played.
It feels a bit higher than someone might’ve guessed, but it’s how the numbers work out.
Seattle has deep enough pockets to keep Naylor if they want to.
If his heroics like this continue into October, it’ll be tough not to hand over whatever dollar figure Naylor asks for.
