The Los Angeles Clippers got older this offseason, but the franchise’s front office recently took a few steps toward building a youthful reserve rotation for the 2025-26 campaign.
The Clippers are on pace to becoming one of the oldest teams in NBA history after their notable acquisitions of Chris Paul and Bradley Beal via free agency, but another set of contract offers handed out by the squad might help to counteract this issue.
According to a recent report, the Clippers decided to push for somewhat of a youth movement by taking flyers on forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. and guard TyTy Washington Jr. this summer.
“The LA Clippers have signed Patrick Baldwin Jr. and TyTy Washington Jr. to training camp contracts,” Spotrac’s Keith Smith shared via Twitter/X on Saturday.
While there’s no guarantee that the Clippers will hold onto either prospect leading into the beginning of the regular season, the pair of 2022 NBA Draft selections will receive a chance to prove that they should stick around.
After being taken with the No. 28 overall pick in 2022 by the Golden State Warriors, the 22-year-old Baldwin Jr. has bounced around the NBA and seen action at the G-League level during previous stints with the Santa Cruz Warriors and Washington Wizards’ Capital City Go-Go affiliate before landing with the San Diego Clippers to close the 2024-25 season.

In 16 appearances and 13 starts for San Diego, the versatile scoring forward contributed 18.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks while boasting a 61.0% true shooting percentage.
As for Washington Jr., the former No. 29 overall pick in 2022 by the Memphis Grizzlies turned heads as a member of the Phoenix Suns’ G-League affiliate Valley Suns in 2024-25, as he put together sensational box score figures of 22.3 points, 6.8 assists and 4.8 rebounds.
The 6-foot-3 guard also knocked down a blistering 42.6% of his 6.7 attempts from three-point range.
Los Angeles managed to nab two incredible talents to fill out their training camp roster, and it’s plausible that both players could prove to be valuable potential additions to the Clippers’ roster if all goes well.
