Shohei Ohtani will take the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers in a much‑anticipated start this Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and the spotlight will shine even brighter because his opponent at the plate will be none other than Mike Trout with the Los Angeles Angels.

Two superstars, one ballpark
Ohtani’s 2025 season numbers continue to fuel his legend. He holds a career win–loss record of 38–19, a stellar earned run average of 2.98, and has recorded 633 strikeouts
Meanwhile, he’s been every bit the offensive juggernaut this year in the National League, leading his league in home runs (41 tied with Kyle Schwarber), runs scored (111), and OPS (1.008).
Of course, the Dodgers are looking to repeat as World Series Champions, and hold a two game lead in the National League West over San Diego.

On the other side, Mike Trout is reemerging from injury with promise. Coming back from a fractured meniscus that cost him much of last season, he returned to the Angels’ lineup on May 30 and recently crossed a major career benchmark, the 1,000th RBI, delivered at home on July 27 with a two‑run homer. Trout’s career slash line remains elite: a .296 batting average, .408 on‑base percentage, and a .983 OPS.
This season, Trout is struggling a bit, at .238, with 20 home runs and 50 runs batted in. His Angels appear to have fallen out of the postseason picture, at 56-62 and ten games back in the American League West.
So this matchup isn’t just another game. It is a collision of two modern legends, each at the top of their game, pitching and hitting, offense and dominance and a storyline that baseball fans dream of.
The scene is set for Wednesday. In Anaheim, Shohei Ohtani will toe the rubber for the Dodgers, his fastball ready to challenge Trout’s veteran bat. Trout, in return, will step into the batter’s box with fresh momentum and memories of shared history. There is nothing like seeing two players who once shared a clubhouse now square off across the mound.
Will Ohtani overpower Trout with blazing heat and sharp offspeed? Or will Trout remind everyone why he is among the greatest hitters? Whatever happens, expect fireworks!
This is more than a game. It is a showcase of two careers intertwined yet torn across rival clubs. On Wednesday, Anaheim will host an unforgettable chapter in baseball history.
