Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo to miss international game vs. Nikola Jokic

Giannis Antetokounmpo will not be seen on the court for the ECOMMBX Cup this weekend, a prep tournament for the Eurobasket, as officially announced by the Greek federation.

The tournament is scheduled for this weekend in Cyprus, and will see the Bucks star miss the games against the Serbian and Israeli national teams, the former of which will feature fellow NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, a seemingly epic encounter between the two future Hall of Famers slipping through the cracks.

According to Vassilis Spanoulis, the Greek national team head coach, he said last Tuesday that Giannis “is following his personal training program” and doesn’t believe that his absence should have any influence on his participation in the Eurobasket 2025.

The Bucks’ big man comes fresh off of another legendary season that saw him average over 30 points per game for the third consecutive year and was also again involved in the MVP conversation along with Jokic and the eventual winner Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Antetokounmpo was named to his ninth consecutive All-Star Game and his seventh consecutive All-NBA first team.

The Milwaukee Bucks finished 48-34, losing in the first round to the eventual Eastern Conference champions, the Indiana Pacers, in five games.
