LaJohntay Wester learned from one of the best.
He played collegiately at Colorado for head coach Deion Sanders. And in his NFL days, Prime was quite the dangerous return man.
Wester showed off that skill Thursday night in the Baltimore Ravens’ preseason opener.
A sixth-round pick, Wester’s best chance to make Baltimore’s roster may be as a return man.
So far, so good in that quest.

After the game, Wester spoke with reporters about the special moment:
“We had a great joint practice with a couple days ago. I came close to breaking one at practice. And after that, I called my dad and was like, ‘I feel one coming tomorrow.’ I prayed all night, and trusted God, and he led me to the end zone.”
Wester also caught two passes for 41 yards. He was an impressive wideout in college, too, catching throws from Shedeur Sanders.

Whether or not Wester can be a full-time WR at the NFL level remains to be seen.
But it doesn’t seem like there should be many questions about his return ability.
In all seriousness, he probably earned himself a spot on the Ravens’ roster with that one runback on Thursday night. As long as he doesn’t have any fumbling issues the rest of the preseason, he’ll likely enter Week 1 as the Baltimore punt returner, looking to replicate that special return from his NFL preseason debut.
