Raiders’ run defense embarrassed in preseason debut vs. Seahawks

The Las Vegas Raiders were fairly solid against the run in 2024, but the team is not off to a good start in 2025.

Las Vegas gave up 116.9 rushing yards per game last season, ranking 13th in the NFL. However, the run defense looked like a shell of itself in the first quarter on Thursday night.

The Raiders gave up 68 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in the first quarter, with George Holani leading the way for Seattle with seven carries for 61 yards and the score. His longest carry went for 24 yards.

You never want to make too much of a preseason game, but the Raiders had all of their starters on the field for the first drive, and many starters stayed in for the remainder of the first quarter.

Also bear in mind that the Seahawks did not play their starters, so the Raiders gave up those numbers against Seattle’s backups. Not good.

We’ll see if Las Vegas can bounce back in their preseason Week 2 game against the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, Aug. 16.
