Mikel Arteta reveals his ‘big belief’ about Arsenal’s 2025/26 season

Arsenal have added six new names to their squad in the ongoing summer transfer window to ensure better results in the upcoming 2025/26 season.

The Gunners have secured a second-place finish in the Premier League for three consecutive campaigns now, while not claiming any major silverware.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta took charge in 2019, and despite edging close to league victories, the Spaniard has led the Gunners to lift the FA Cup in 2019–20 and the FA Community Shield in 2020 and 2023.

With the new season knocking at the door, Arteta appears to be ready to step into the fresh challenge with ‘a big belief’ in his squad’s success.

What did Mikel Arteta say about Arsenal’s 2025/26 season?

Arsenal welcomed new signings, Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, and Kepa Arrizabalaga this summer.

Arteta addressed the new arrivals at the Emirates, claiming that his squad know their targets for the upcoming season, and said,

“These new arrivals all add quality and depth to the squad, which is what we are going to need throughout the season ahead. We know what our targets are and what we want to achieve this season – there is a big belief in our ability to achieve that,” as per FotMob.

“We have been very, very close the last few seasons and the whole team is going to determine whether we achieve that or not. But at the same time, we have to make sure that we don’t lose sight of what we have to do on a daily basis to get to the levels that we want.”

“We have to set the demands that we want within this goal, because that’s the most important thing. The internal demands have to always exceed any external demand. That is what we are trying to achieve every single day.”

Arsenal have two more pre-season friendly games scheduled before the beginning of the new campaign. The Gunners are set to face Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates this week, and Arteta has highlighted the importance of the support from the home crowd.

“We have to do that all together, with you, our supporters as well. That is another reason why these two games at home are so important. Let’s show that energy from the first moment.”

“We want our people to start connecting with our players straight away, to start to build momentum and to start to feel that at home we are invincible. That we play here with such passion, energy and connection with our people, that we are going to win the game.”

Arsenal will be kicking off the upcoming season with their opening match of the Premier League against Manchester United on August 17 at Old Trafford.
