Nikola Jokic has quickly moved up the NBA all-time players list as one of the most talented players to ever play the game of basketball.
He’s only 30 years old and has multiple MVPs and an NBA championship. This resume goes on even further than just that.
There’s one particular stat that Jokic may claim the all-time NBA record for, potentially in this upcoming season.
What NBA record could Nikola Jokic set in 2025-26?

Jokic is set to eventually pass Russell Westbrook for the most career triple-doubles by a single player in NBA history.
This is a stat that Westbrook took the lead in during the 2020-21 season, passing Oscar Robertson’s previous all-time leading total of 181.
Westbrook has since slowed down his triple-double rate over the past few seasons, but has grown his total to 203.
Jokic currently has 164 in his career, putting him 39 short of Westbrook’s current mark.

39 sounds like a lot for Jokic to get this upcoming season, as it would require him to practically record a triple-double statline every other game he plays (assuming he played all 82 games).
Jokic, out of all players, can do the unthinkable, as he’s single-handedly changed the standard.
To start, Jokic averaged a triple-double for the entire 2024-25 NBA season, averaging 29.6 points, 12.7 rebounds and 10.2 assists in 70 games.
He had a career-high and league-leading 34 triple-doubles last season. That’s 48.57% (34/70) of the time he recorded a triple-double when he stepped on the court.

A full 82-game season for Jokic in 2025-26, although not practical, would be enough to get the amount needed to at least tie Westbrook’s mark, assuming he minimally produces them at the rate he did last season.
It’s important to note that Westbrook has the chance to continue to grow his total since he’s still active, but with just nine in the last three seasons, that rate has gone down significantly for an aging Westbrook.
It’s a tough task for Jokic to complete, and it won’t be a priority for the Nuggets’ star, but he certainly will have a chance at claiming the record in the 2025-26 season if he has another MVP-level season.
