Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber joins Babe Ruth in incredible MLB home run history

Kyle Schwarber isn’t Babe Ruth, and no one is saying that.

But when you watch Schwarber hit, doesn’t it kind of feel like what it might’ve been like to see Ruth hit?

The Philadelphia Phillies’ sturdy left-handed slugger definitely has prodigious power.

And now, he has joined Ruth on one of the most impressive record clubs in MLB history, a group with five other players who are all legends.

Schwarber has now hit 170 home runs from his ages 29 through 32 seasons.

That is a feat that has only been accomplished by six players, per @FuzzyFromYT:

  • Babe Ruth
  • Sammy Sosa
  • Jim Thome
  • Alex Rodriguez
  • Aaron Judge
  • Kyle Schwarber

It’s hard to imagine a more prodigious power-hitting group than those guys.

Schwarber is already up to 40 homers this season for the Phillies, and he’s got nearly two months to keep slugging.

He’s chasing his career-high of 47 homers set in 2023. He hit 46 in 2022, and he had 38 last season.

Schwarber is not only powerful, but consistent.

He joined the Phillies in 2022 after a 32-homer season split between the Nationals and Red Sox in 2021.

Before that, he had played six seasons with the Cubs. Chicago fans don’t love seeing what Schwarber is doing, because the Cubs chose to non-tender Schwarber after 2020 rather than go to salary arbitration with him.

That choice hasn’t aged well, but it’s been for the Phillies’ gain.

And anyone who watches Schwarber hit doesn’t expect his home run hitting ways to end anytime soon.
