Real Madrid signee touted to become ‘heir’ to Lionel Messi

Real Madrid have had a busy summer in terms of signings, and one of their imminent signings has just arrived in Madrid.

Franco Mastantuono has yet to sign his official contract, but he has committed to Real and Xabi Alonso’s plans for the club.

River Plate’s scouting director, Daniel Brizuela, has given his verdict on Mastantuono, and he has backed him to succeed.

What did Brizuela say about the young Real Madrid star?

Speaking to Radio MARCA, Brizuela only had praise for Mastantuono. The scout recalled Mastantuono as a child, and said, “Inside a swarm of children, he made an oriented control and gave a pass that ended in goal. Then I said: This is a child prodigy.

“The difference was not only in what he did, but in how and when he did it. He has the prototype of the European footballer. I always said he was a perfect player for Real Madrid.”

Brizuela gave his prediction for Mastantuono’s future, saying, “I’m sure he will be at the next World Cup. He is the heir to the 10 of the Argentine national team.”

Lionel Messi currently wears the number 10 for Argentina, but if Brizuela is right, Mastantuono could soon be wearing the legendary jersey after Messi’s eventual retirement.

Brizuela also praised the youngster’s leadership, saying, “At the age of 17, he was already leading a team like River. Imagine in two years what Franco can do.

“He has Zidane’s stuff, he’s a fine, elegant player.”

Mastantuono will have high expectations from those around him, but the 17-year-old has the quality to deliver. He will likely play an important role in Real Madrid’s future.
