Newcastle United find themselves in a tricky situation right now with the entire Alexander Isak scenario as Liverpool push for the Swedish striker.
The 25-year-old has ignored Newcastle United’s preseason tour in Singapore and is training alone at his former club Real Sociedad’s facilities.
However, the Magpies are aware of his minor injury and have denied AWOL. They are in no mood to sell the Swedish marksman this summer but will be tempted if Liverpool offer £150m ($199m)
Amidst the transfer saga, Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon became the first player to react to the entire fiasco involving his teammate.
“I understand what Alex is going through,” he told The Mail. “What I can say, for me, is that it’s been an absolute pleasure to be out of the transfer speculation for a summer!”
“It’s the first time in about three years! It’s been so easy, so mentally refreshing. That is why I understand what Alex is going through. I feel for him. He will be going through a lot. The club is going through a lot. I hope everyone gets what they want in the end.”

The England international shared that he felt his time at Newcastle United was up last summer with all the transfer rumours around him.
“It’s true, that was the case,” he explained. “I would never lie. It was difficult for me because one, I had the Euros, which was horrendous for me mentally.
“I was there, I wasn’t playing. Then I had the transfer stuff. With PSR, I thought I was going to leave at some point in the window. It didn’t happen.
“I had to get my head around that to begin with, and then to get my head around it again [when it didn’t happen] was hard.”
“I’m a human being. It’s really difficult. That is why I understand what Alex is going through. I feel for him. He will be going through a lot. The club is going through a lot. I hope everyone gets what they want in the end.”
Why did Newcastle United reject Liverpool’s first bid for Isak?
According to reports via The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Newcastle United have rejected Liverpool’s first official approach for Isak.
The Reds reportedly offered £110m plus add-ons for the Sweden International but the total offer didn’t reach £120m.
The Magpies have asserted their intentions and will only negotiate if they receive an offer close to £150m.
While it is understood that Newcastle United know everything about Isak’s whereabouts, it will be interesting to see how they convince him to continue at St. James Park after the 25-year-old expressed his desire to explore options this summer following Liverpool’s approach.
Given Isak’s situation, Newcastle United are plotting a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko as an alternative option but there they will have to compete with Manchester United.
