Recent contracts have shown just how much of a business the NBA has become.
It’s a league for players to showcase their talent on the biggest stage available, but it’s also a large part of the entertainment industry.
Players such as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Devin Booker have recently gotten contracts that have shattered NBA records, inching closer to an AAV that would equate to almost $1 million per game..
The superstars are getting paid absurd amounts, but we have seen it from lower-tiered players as well, who are talented but not quite star level.
One of those ‘lower-tiered’ players is seeking a big payout this offseason and is still looking for someone to pay his price.

What player is seeking a huge contract?
Nets’ guard Cam Thomas is a restricted free agent this offseason.
It’s been a tough summer for restricted free agents like Cam Thomas, as the interest level in this market hasn’t been as supportive as these players were hoping for.
Thomas wants to get paid what he’s worth. Recent reports revealed how much that price is.
Brian Lewis of the NYPost reported, “A source familiar with Thomas’ thinking said he does not consider himself inferior to Immanuel Quickley ($32.5 million this upcoming season), Tyler Herro ($31 million) or RJ Barrett ($27.7 million)” (via Evan Sidery).
It’s not an exact price, but Thomas believes his talent level meets players like Herro, Quickley and Barrett.

Herro just made his first all-star appearance, averaging 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists in the 2024-25 NBA season.
Thomas might have a fair argument, as he’s not too far off from Herro’s averages last season.
Thomas averaged 24.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 25 games last season.
It was the second straight season that Thomas averaged over 22.0 points.
We’ll see how long it takes for Thomas to get a deal done, but it seems like a stalemate doesn’t favor him getting paid the price he’s put on himself.
