Knicks teammate cracks joke about Mikal Bridges’ extension

The New York Knicks made headlines Thursday afternoon by signing former first-round pick Mikal Bridges to a four-year, $150 million contract extension.

However, the deal did come with a slight sacrifice for the Villanova alumnus, as the extension ended up knocking $6 million off of what he would have earned as maximum payment under the current agreement, allowing the team to maintain flexibility to build their roster.

Bridges’ teammate, guard Miles McBride, decided to take to social media to crack a joke about his fellow guard, responding to Shams Charania’s tweet about the extension with a laugh, saying “Manns really a team first guy, appreciate it Kal!” with a laughing emoji next to it.

The New York Knicks’ 2024-25, which ended up being their final under head coach Tom Thibodeau, resulted in the team finishing the regular season 51-31, good enough for the third-best record in the Eastern Conference, and advanced all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals, where they lost to the Indiana Pacers in six games.

Now under the leadership of new head coach Mike Brown, the team will look to take it one step further and for the first time since 1973, bring a championship home to Madison Square Garden.
