Chelsea eye last-minute move for Man Utd star in final transfer push

Despite signing Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, and reportedly being on the verge of adding Xavi Simons to their squad, Chelsea still maintain a rumoured interest in Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United.

At the moment, Chelsea are focused on transfer talks with RB Leipzig over a deal for Simons, who can play on the left-side of attack.

The Blues head into the new season with Gittens and Tyrique George, who can both play in that position, especially if the latter is not loaned in the coming weeks.

Despite this, Chelsea could still bring in Garnacho from United towards the end of the ongoing transfer window, to add another option out wide.

The Argentina international has been linked with a move to Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window, and it’s been revealed a move could materialise in the final weeks of the window.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the Garnacho to Chelsea situation as Blues fans await fresh news.

According to Romano, while Simons remains the Blues priority, they will consider a move for Garnacho if United signal there intention to do a deal.

On his YouTube channel, Romano said: “First step, go for Xavi Simons, negotiations are advanced with Leipzig, and then the second step, consider Garnacho as an opportunity for the final weeks of the window. That’s the plan for Chelsea.”

In the meantime, Chelsea are reportedly doing checks on Garnacho’s character to find out more about him, as a final test over his suitability.

Whatever happens with Chelsea’s interest in the Madrid-born attacker, his future in Manchester looks settled, with Ruben Amorim not counting on him for the 2025/26 campaign.
