The Los Angeles Lakers haven’t been hesitant to add assets they believe could offer assistance to Luka Doncic and LeBron James now or in the near future.
On Saturday, the franchise signed the son of a Hall of Fame ex-Golden State Warriors guard.
“The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard RJ Davis, forward Eric Dixon, forward Arthur Kaluma, and guard Augustas Marčiulionis,” the organization announced Saturday. “Marčiulionis embarks on his professional career after four collegiate seasons at St. Mary’s College of California (2021-25).”
“In his final season with the Gaels, Marčiulionis started all 35 games and averaged 14.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.3 steals in 34.8 minutes. He was named the 2025 WCC Player of the Year and earned All-WCC First Team honors after finishing the season ranked third in the conference in assists.”
“In 138 career collegiate games (91 starts), the 23-year-old averaged 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.0 steals in 24.7 minutes.”
Marčiulionis’ father, Šarūnas, played four seasons with the Warriors (1989-93) before spending the final three seasons of his NBA career with the Seattle Supersonics, Sacramento Kings, and Denver Nuggets.

While it’ll be challenging for Marčiulionis to follow in his father’s footsteps, the two-time WCC Player of the Year could realistically develop into a valuable bench contributor in the big leagues.
Marčiulionis’ consistency as a one-step-ahead ball screen operator and ability to heat up in the mid-range area shouldn’t be overlooked as he transitions to the next level.
Unfortunately, a foot injury caused the 23-year-old guard to miss the entire Summer League, but he should be prepared to showcase his skill set by the time training camp rolls around.
