Manchester City have added a host of new faces to their squad this summer. However, some long-standing stars could also bid their goodbyes to the club with multiple reports suggesting one is incoming.
Jack Grealish has been consistently linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium since the end of the 2024/25 season.
The England international started just seven Premier League matches in 2024/25 after drastically slipping down Pep Guardiola’s pecking order.
Ahead of City’s last league match of the season, Guardiola offered an update on Grealish’s future, with a clear indication over his intentions.
“Of course Jack has to play. He’s an unbelievable player that has to play every three days. It didn’t happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it. With us or another place. It’s a question for Jack, his agent and the club,” as per ESPN.
Now, Grealish is reportedly considering a switch to Italy and he could follow City legend Kevin De Bruyne after the Belgian maestro recently joined Napoli on a two-year deal.

What’s next for Man City’s Jack Grealish?
Grealish recently visited Italy for some individual training sessions, after agreeing to train on his own, when he returns to the Etihad Campus for preseason.
The 29-year-old has reportedly attracted transfer interest from West Ham United and Newcastle United, with Napoli now emerging as another option for him.
Recently, Grealish spoke with fans during his vacation on the Amalfi Coast, where he’s working hard on a return to full fitness, and local councillor Emanuele Falcone, revealed he’s not turned down the rumors of him joining Napoli.
“Grealish has booked our sports facility for the whole week, from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, he might pop over to Naples. He trained very seriously, like a true professional,” as per the Manchester Evening News.
“Lots of fans stopped him for a photo and asked if he really could come to Napoli. Him? Never a denial, just laughter and winks. In fact, he let slip a joke, ‘You already have De Bruyne in Napoli.’
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Grealish needs to be playing regularly, especially being left out of England’s squad for the 2024 Euros.
If Grealish makes the move to Napoli this summer, he will once again share a pitch with De Bruyne. The duo played 92 matches together at City with five joint goal participations.
