Max Christie was acquired by the Dallas Mavericks back in February in a trade that saw him, Anthony Davis, and a 2029 first-round pick in exchange for Luka Doncic, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris by the Los Angeles Lakers.
Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic were the big names in the move, but the Mavericks were able to bring in Max Christie while he was in the midst of his best season in his short, three-year career.
While playing just 25.1 minutes per game with the Lakers and averaging 8.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 44.4% from the field, the Mavericks were able to open new doors for the 22-year-old guard. In the 32 games he played in Dallas last season, his production increased to 30.4 minutes per game and averaged 11.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists.
Christie seems to still have some bad blood with the Los Angeles Lakers after they traded him, and while at Mavs Academy Hoop Camp last week, he threw a small jab at the Lakers.
When he was asked what day had been his favorite in his NBA career, Christie responded, saying, “It was when I got traded to the Mavericks.”
Max Christie is here at Frisco Athletic Center for Mavs Academy Hoop Camp. He’s participating in a Q&A session with the campers. One asked what was his favorite day of his NBA career.

The comment he made could be throwing shade at the Lakers, after Christie slowly found more and more playing time in Los Angeles, but found a career high in minutes per game in his 32 games he played with the Mavericks.
