You don’t see this every day. Or, well, ever.
The Baltimore Orioles had a 17-0 lead in the ninth inning against the Colorado Rockies, and veteran utility man Kyle Farmer was on the mound as a position player just trying to burn a couple outs.
Orioles catcher Alex Jackson stepped in the box. And when Farmer lobbed in a pitch, Jackson didn’t wait back.
Instead, he took a couple steps forward to walk into a swing, and then he crushed a ball high, far and out of the ballpark for a home run.
Call that a tribute to the new release of Happy Gilmore 2. The walk-up swing is a memorable moment from the Adam Sandler-led golf comedy.

Jackson has had an odd big league career. He was the No. 6 overall pick in 2014, an exciting catching talent with a big bat.
Then he got moved off catcher and didn’t hit enough.
Jackson has never been able to stick in the big leagues, even after moving back behind the plate. And he has only gotten time for Baltimore amid a rash of catching injuries.
But that allowed him to have this moment, one that’s maybe not how he imagined his MLB career playing out but also one that he might not forget.
