July has been kind to Kyle Schwarber of the Philadelphia Phillies. He made the All-Star game and eventually won the MVP of the game, as he helped the National League in the “swing off” to finish the game.
Now, Schwarber has made history. The 32-year-old went deep in the top of the fifth inning at Yankee Stadium to tie the game at 2-2.

The home run was not just any home run. First, it was his 35th home run of the season. Second, it was his 1000th hit of his career.

With 1,000 hits, Schwarber makes it 57 active players in Major League Baseball to reach the number. Amed Rosario, Shohei Ohtani and Yasmani Grandal are next on the line.
Schwarber also has reached 319 home runs, which is the most within a player’s first 1,000 hits. That surpasses Mark McGwire’s 311, according to Sarah Langs.

The game was 2-0 when Schwarber tied it, as Cody Bellinger and Austin Wells both hit solo home runs.
Philadelphia came into the game with a 58-44 record, which was 1/2 game behind the New York Mets in the National League East.
