When PSG finally won the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history, one man was the hero of the hour.
Gianluigi Donnarumma with his ice cool head and match winning saves was the star of the show throughout the 2024/25 season as PSG conquered Europe and dominated French football from start to finish.
They won every domestic trophy available after winning Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions and had a season that the fans in Paris will be talking about for generations.
But while the trophies are in the cabinet, the club now finds itself dealing with a far more complicated matter off the pitch.
Donnarumma, who was so vital to their success has still not signed a contract extension and with his current deal set to expire in June 2026, Luis Enrique side are now entering uncertain territory.
That uncertainty has naturally caught the attention of two of Europe’s most powerful clubs.

According to Nicolo Schira, both Manchester City and Bayern Munich are closely monitoring his situation, as they prepare for eventual transitions from Ederson and Manuel Neuer respectively.
City remain hopeful of keeping Ederson who has offers from Saudi Arabia and Turkey but a sudden change in plans could lead them back to Donnarumma.
PSG tells Donnarumma to decide quickly
According to Le10Sport, PSG have now sent a strong message to Donnarumma’s camp, making it clear that a new deal must be signed in the coming weeks.
Club leadership fears a repeat of the Kylian Mbappe saga which ended in 2024 with the French forward joining Real Madrid on a free transfer after months of uncertainty.
Talks are still ongoing but according to multiple reports Donnarumma and his representatives are not satisfied with the terms PSG has put on the table so far.
If no agreement is found before the window shuts, PSG could be forced to consider a sale, despite the player’s role in delivering their most successful season to date.
