Manchester City are keen on bringing one of their academy graduates, James Trafford, back to the Etihad this summer.
Trafford started his senior career with Man City in 2021 and was on loans to Accrington Stanley and Bolton Wanderers respectively before making a permanent move to Burnley in 2023.
Man City have agreed on a deal worth £27m ($36m) with Burnley to re-sign the English shotstopper, according to ESPN.
The aforementioned report also stated that Trafford will be signing a five-year contract with Pep Guardiola’s side, and the deal would include the option of a further 12-month extension.
Man City already signed goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea, and he made the trip to the United States with Guardiola’s squad for the Club World Cup.
City’s first-choice goalkeeper Ederson has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad, but the Brazilian star turned down those rumors as fake last month.

Manchester City hijacked Newcastle United’s move for James Trafford
Newcastle were interested in signing Trafford and reportedly presented a £27m bid for him this week. However, Burnley were obligated to inform City of the Magpies’ offer as a part of the clause in their deal with Guardiola’s side.
Trafford also opted for his boyhood club over Newcastle, and Man City matched the Magpies’ offer and confirmed the re-signing before the Tyneside club could submit an improved bid for the 22-year-old
Trafford was a regular starter for Burnley last season, making 45 appearances during which he maintained 29 clean sheets and conceded 16 goals.
