Former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Jack Jones has finally landed in a new home.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Jones is signing a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Jones returns to the AFC East, where he began his career with the New England Patriots, who drafted him in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft before parting ways with the Arizona State product the following season.
Jones latched on with the Raiders via waivers after the Pats cut him and proved to be a great pickup. The 27-year-old surrendered a completion rate of 56.3% and a passer rating of 63.0 in seven games for Vegas that season.
However, Jones’ tenure soured in 2024. He was seemingly benched for what former head coach Antonio Pierce called “business decisions,” or showing a lack of effort in his attempts to make tackles in a game.
While Jones wasn’t as good in 2024 as he was in 2023, he still posted respectable coverage numbers, garnering a 62.8% completion rate against and 98.5 passer rating when targeted. He also had 16 passes defensed.
Jones has proven to be an electric playmaker as well. He has four career pick-sixes, three of which came with the Raiders.
Jones joins a Dolphins team that traded away Jalen Ramsey in a blockbuster deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’ll look to earn a starting spot in a competition against Storm Duck, Jason Marshall Jr. and others.
