New York Knicks head coach Mike Brown is already making some hefty changes to his coaching staff, with some of the changes directly affecting Tom Thibodeau’s family.
On Friday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Brown will not be retaining assistant coaches Nick Thibodeau — the nephew of Tom — Othella Harrington, Dice Yoshimoto, Daniel Brady, and Andy Greer, who were all apart of Tom Thibodeau’s staff during his Knicks tenure.
Brown already made the decision to keep Rick Brunson, the father of the team’s superstar Jalen Brunson. However, he was demoted from his previous role of associate head coach as Brown searches for his replacement. The Knicks have already requested, and received permission to interview Minnesota Timberwolves assistant — and former Knicks point guard — Pablo Prigioni for the position.
Brown was hired by the Knicks on July 7 to replace Thibodeau. He was most recently the head coach of the Sacramento Kings, and has also served as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, and an assistant coach in Golden State with the Warriors.
Now, Brown will focus on filling out the rest of his coaching staff. It doesn’t appear that Brown will be keeping many of Thibodeau’s holdovers, so the front row of the bench could look very different next season for the Knicks.
