It is not often that Jamie Carragher gets his predictions right, but the former Liverpool man has surprisingly struck the bull’s eye ahead of the current summer transfer window.
Carragher made a few audacious predictions in April in one of his appearances on The Overlap show.
To everyone’s surprise, three out of his four predictions about Liverpool’s transfer window have come true.
Despite winning the 20th Premier League title last season under Arne Slot, the Reds have been investing heavily in bringing reinforcements in all departments.
The reigning English champions have already spent £300m ($407m), and fascinatingly, they aren’t done yet.
The Reds are still getting linked with Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Coming to Carragher’s predictions, the former England international expected Liverpool to sign Milos Kerkez.
“Well, Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes came from Bournemouth, and he brought Milos Kerkez to the club,” he said.
“The left back, he has been fantastic this season, and I look at that and think it probably makes sense.”
Liverpool proved him right when they signed the Hungarian in late June from Bournemouth for £40m as the young left-back is seen as a long-term fix for Andrew Robertson.
Secondly, Carragher picked Hugo Ekitike over Isak as he believed that Frankfurt would suit Liverpool’s system more than Newcastle’s talisman.
“The one player every club would love is Alexander Isak,” Carragher stated.
“I am not sure Liverpool would want to pay that type of money for one player. I think Liverpool’s model is that they want to get the next Isak.
“There is the lad at Eintracht Frankfurt, and I am not going to try and pronounce his name, Hugo Ekitike.
“That smacks to me of the sort of player that Liverpool would sign.
“I think he is 22, he has got great numbers this season, and he looks to me like the type of player that Liverpool would sign.”
Once again, Liverpool didn’t disappoint Carragher, but he had to wait to see the Reds seal the deal for the 22-year-old for a whopping £79m ($106.5m) transfer fee.
However, Carragher may be in for a surprise as the Reds have been linked with Isak even after Ekitike’s arrival.
The third prediction that he got right was when he said Liverpool needed a player in midfield who could step up and score goals or help with goal output.
The Reds followed Carragher’s intuition and made a statement by luring Florian Wirtz to Anfield.
“For me, I still think Liverpool lack something going forward from midfield. I think they can definitely get someone in there who can score more goals.”
Wirtz had plenty of options, but he decided to move to Liverpool, breaking the British record fee of £116m ($157m).
What was Carragher’s fourth prediction on Liverpool?
Interestingly, Carragher predicted that two or three of the Liverpool forwards from last season will be sold.
While Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are linked with clubs this summer, neither of them have departed, hence putting the prediction on hold.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if two or three of the front six that Liverpool have move on and Liverpool replace them.”
According to many reports, Liverpool are not done in the summer transfer window so one must feel that they will sell a few players before making more signings.
