Real Madrid eye Premier League star to strengthen key area

Real Madrid are once again turning their attention to William Saliba, the French defender who has quietly become one of the best in England under Mikel Arteta.

Los Blancos haven’t forgotten the 24-year-old who grew up just streets away from Kylian Mbappe in Paris.

The Champions League quarterfinal between Arsenal and PSG earlier this year gave Madrid’s scouts the perfect moment to take a closer look where Saliba held his ground against Mbappe.

That performance has left a lasting impression on the club’s decision-makers, especially in a summer where finding a reliable central defender is a top priority.

Real Madrid have growing concerns in their backline this season. David Alaba has struggled to stay fit, Eder Militao has dealt with two major knee injuries and Antonio Rudiger has shown signs of physical wear as well.

Raul Asencio despite promise has not shown the leadership the club hoped for and with that in mind, the club recently reached out to Saliba’s camp to begin exploring a future deal, according to L’Equipe.

The French defender is said to be aware of the financial reality in Spain

Saliba willing to accept lower wages for Real Madrid move

As reported by Marca, Saliba is ready to take a financial cut to push a future transfer to Real Madrid.

Arsenal can offer higher wages and are willing to offer him a new contract that could run until 2032.

However, the Frenchman is interested in signing for Madrid where he can play alongside national teammates like Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Kylian Mbappe.
