Best MLB Home Run Picks for Tuesday
Harper Stays Hot for the Phillies
After struggling for a couple weeks after returning from a wrist injury, Harper has been fantastic over his last eight games. He has nine barrels, 18 HardHits in these games, slashing a .389 average, .972 slugging and 1.436 OPS. He has an absurd 13 extra-base hits in this stretch and managed to stay hot at the plate yesterday with two doubles and three HardHits, all three of which were over 100+ mph exit velocity.
It was much needed for Harper, who is clearly locked in at the plate. He is also typically better at home in the comforts of the hitter-friendly Phillies home stadium, with all his numbers from average to OPS better at home than away.
As far as the pitching matchup goes, Richard Fitts is pitching for the Red Sox, who has struggled with the long ball all year. He has allowed a home run every 18 at-bats on the season, with bad numbers across the board. He has admittedly been worse against righties as opposed to a lefty such as Harper, but his numbers against lefties are still not good enough to the point where Harper should be completely avoided.
Walker Goes Yard Against His Old Team
Christian Walker spent the last eight years of his career as a member of the Diamondbacks. He is currently in the midst of his first series back in Arizona as a member of the Astros.
While he did not go yard yesterday, he still had a great day at the plate, going 2/4 with a double. That double was 106.4 mph off the bat and traveled 427 feet. It would have been a home run in 28/30 stadiums, making it a brutal beat for those who did have him to hit a home run. For context, three home runs were hit in this game last night, and all three of them were shorter than Walkers 427-foot double. Overall, Walker had three HardHits yesterday, all three of which were 100+ mph EV.
Eduardo Rodriguez is the starting pitcher for the Diamondbacks, who has struggled in his two years in an Arizona uniform. This year, he has a HR/9 of 1.79, which is the fifth worst of all pitchers who have thrown at least 80 innings. After the bad luck double yesterday, Walker goes yard tonight.
Crow-Armstrong Crushes One in Chicago
No stadium in the MLB is more impacted by the weather than Wrigley Field but today is a neutral weather day as opposed to an extreme positive or negative one. The temperature in the mid-80s will help with carry, with winds blowing slightly out to left. So, all in all the weather is nothing to be concerned about, with a lot of other factors in favor of PCA tonight.
He had the day off yesterday, but prior to that he had been hitting well with three barrels in his last four games, and at least two HardHits in three of his last four games as well. Crow-Armstrong has been such a good home run hitter this year thanks to his ability to put the ball in the air, with the sixth-best fly-ball rate in the MLB, and one of only eight batters with a fly-ball rate above 50%.
The Royals will have Rich Hill making his season debut as the starting pitcher tonight. Hill is a 45-year-old pitcher who made one start last year and only made it 3.2 innings and got rocked. It is unknown how long he will go in the game, but as long as we can get two at-bats that should hopefully be enough for PCA to clear a fence.
