Justin Rose turned professional 27 years ago, but he found himself facing off with much younger competition at Augusta National in 2025.
The English golfer cruised through the opening rounds of the Masters, but ultimately fell to Rory McIlroy in a playoff, as the latter completed the career Grand Slam.
Last year, Rose found himself in nearly the same position as a top contender at the Open Championship. After entering the final round one shot off the lead and initially looking strong, he finished second behind Xander Schauffele.

Here’s what you need to know about Rose’s history in majors.
Has Justin Rose won a major?
Rose has one major victory, coming at the 2013 U.S. Open, at Merion Golf Club near Philadelphia.
In a tournament that presented a remarkable challenge for the entire field — no one finished under par — consistency was the difference for Rose. He shot either a 69, 70 or 71 in each of his four rounds, finally overtaking Phil Mickelson for the lead late in the final round and holding on over the last five holes to win by two strokes.
It was a monumental moment for Rose, who turned professional at just 19 and struggled early in his career. He had been building to the victory with six top-10 major finishes leading up to 2013, and the victory remains the pinnacle of Rose’s career.
