Manchester City’s €35m youngster eyeing a La Liga switch

Manchester City have a massive squad, and while they need a stacked roster to challenge teams like Liverpool and Arsenal for the Premier League next season, some of their players could be on their way out this summer.

There are several players who are not happy with their gametime and are open to leaving Etihad Stadium.

One such player, who is ready to make a loan switch to La Liga is Vitor Reis. The Brazilian defender joined City this January and is already linked with Girona.

As per reports via Que Thi Jugues’ Nil Sola, Reis is close to joining Girona on loan as the young defender is desperate to secure more gametime heading into the 2025/26 season.

The 19-year-old centre-back joined City from Palmeiras in January for a €35m ($40.7m) transfer fee, but the majority of his stay in Manchester has been devoted to adapting to life in England.

Despite not featuring much for City’s senior team, Reis has impressed the coaches in training and tactical sessions, hence many clubs are monitoring his situation at City.

Therefore, City are planning to loan him out to their sister club, Girona, to continue his growth and development.

Over the years, the Citizens used Girona as a strategic partner, as they have sent many of their young and talented players to facilitate their development in La Liga.

What could Vitor Reis offer to the Girona squad?

Before sealing his move to Manchester City, clubs like Arsenal and Real Madrid were interested in him.

The Brazilian teenage defender is known for his composure on the ball, game awareness, passing ability and overall defensive prowess.

Reis often decides to carry the ball out of his defensive area to provide line-breaking pass to his forwards.

His loan move to Girona would be beneficial for all three parties involved, as it will allow Reis to play in a top-quality league and will only accelerate his growth.

The 19-year-old also fits into Michel’s fluid passing system at Girona as they are aiming to push for European competition places for the upcoming season.
