Scottie Scheffler left no doubt at Royal Portrush. With a strong final round and steady control throughout the back nine, the World No. 1 secured his first Open Championship title and hoisted the Claret Jug for the first time.
Scheffler closed out the tournament at 17 under par, finishing four strokes clear of Harris English, who made a late charge but couldn’t apply enough pressure to catch the leader. The victory adds another major to Scheffler’s growing resume and comes with a $3.1 million payout from a $17 million purse.

That payday matches last year’s winner’s share and continues The Open’s tradition of awarding the lowest total purse among the four majors. Earlier this season, the Masters handed out $21 million in total prize money, while the U.S. Open topped the list at $21.5 million.
Harris’ runner-up finish earned him $1.76 million, a strong showing, but still short of the title he’s chased since 2014. Chris Gotterup, who won last week’s Scottish Open, earned just over $1.1 million.
Here’s how the full payout broke down for the field:

Players who didn’t make the cut still earned something for their efforts. The top 10 pros missing the weekend each received $12,350. The following 10 received $10,300, and the rest were awarded $8,750.
The Claret Jug is now Scheffler’s, and the check that came with it confirms he’s still at the peak of his powers.
