Harris English family tree: Meet American golfer’s wife Helen Marie, daughter Emilia, parents & more

Harris English has established himself as a name to know in the golf world.

After turning pro in 2011, English has continued to make incremental improvements throughout his career. In 2020, Harris leveled up in his pursuit of a major championship, finishing fourth in the U.S. Open at New York’s Winged Foot Golf Club.

Harris posted three more top-10 finishes at majors since then, including a second-place finish at the 2025 PGA Championship in Charlotte, North Carolina. As English’s game rises, so, too, does his profile on and off the course.

Here is a look at English’s family and upbringing, from his wife and daughter to his parents and deep Georgia roots.

Harris English wife: Helen Marie English

English’s wife is Helen Marie English (neé Bowers).

Like her husband, Helen Marie attended the University of Georgia. It is unclear exactly when they met, but English posted a playful photo of Helen Marie to his Instagram in July 2014.

The two wed in February 2017, according to their registry.

Harris English daughter: Emilia English

Harris and Helen Marie welcomed their daughter, Emilia, to the world on July 10, 2023.

In January 2025, English earned his first tour win since Emilia was born, coming out on top at the Farmers Insurance Open. Harris and Helen Marie reveled in the opportunity to celebrate with their daughter, who was present at the tournament in La Jolla, California.

Harris English dad: Ben English

English’s dad, Ben, is the head coach of the Georgia College & State University men’s golf program. 

The elder English accepted the job in December 2024 and took over the program after spending the previous 16 years with Next Level Golf, a college recruiting service. He would go on to purchase the service and shift its focus to performance coaching in competitive golf.

In addition to working with his son, Harris, Ben has coached over 70 players to college scholarships. Ben is a native of Sandersville, Ga., and played basketball at the University of Georgia as a freshman.

Harris English mom: Martha English

English’s mom is Martha, someone who has played an integral role in supporting her son’s golf ambitions.

Early in Harris’ career, Martha caddied for her son during the Masters Par 3 contest. In 2022, Harris recalled how his mom was often there to support and ensure he was where he needed to be as 

“I remember during the summers, my mother dropping me off at the club at 8 in the morning and picking me up at 8 that night,” Harris said of his formative years at Georgia’s Sunset Country Club. “It was great that we had a good, core group of golfers here. It made it fun for me and I think we made each other better.”

Where is Harris English from?

English is from Valdosta, Georgia, a city located 15 miles north of the Florida border. His professional residence is listed as Sea Island, Ga.

English was born in Valdosta and attended high school in Chattanooga, Tenn., before returning to the Peach State to play golf collegiately at the University of Georgia. He enjoyed a four-year career with the Bulldogs and turned pro after graduating in 2011.
