Real Madrid are going through massive changes under Xabi Alonso and they aren’t done yet.
Los Blancos have dedicated the transfer window to fixing their defence and they are planning to bring more reinforcements following the FIFA Club World Cup.
Following their exit from the competition, Alonso decided his squad needs more solidity in their backline
As part of Alonso’s search, reports from ESPN claim his former Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie has offered himself to the La Liga giants, if a deal can be brokered.
Centre-back position is an area of concern for Alonso and his coaching staff, as they lack depth despite signing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth earlier his summer.
Real Madrid suffered from a lot of injuries last season, with David Alaba yet to recover from his knee issue, and there are doubts over his place this season.

Eder Militao has returned to the squad – after suffering two consecutive ligament injuries – but he remains short on match fitness and that is a question to be answered by Alonso.
Hincapie could be a great option for Real Madrid and his previous link with Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen enhances the chances of making a move.
How much could Hincapie cost Real Madrid?
Hincapie was a big part of Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen side that won the Bundesliga undefeated in 2023/24.
The Ecuadorian has been one of the most highly-rated defenders in the Bundesliga over the last few years and he feels it’s time to take the next step in his career.
Hincapie’s current contract with Leverkusen runs until 2029, but his contract includes a €60m [$70m] release clause.
The 23-year-old, who is predominantly a centre-back, can also slot in as a left-back, as a perfect fit in Alonso’s system.
Real Madrid only have Antonio Rudiger, Huijsen and Raul Asencio as fit centre-backs and they desperately need at least one more defender.
Alonso will closely monitor the his situation at the BayArena with the defender open to a moving on.
