Bayern Munich are yet to announce a single major signing this summer after securing two free transfers to bring in Tom Bischof and Jonathan Tah.
The Bundesliga champions are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements following the departures of Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller.
To make matters worse, Jamal Musiala will sidelined for a prolonged period after fracturing his fibula against PSG in the FIFA Club World Cup quarterfinals.
Following a host of rejections, Bayern Munich are currently targeting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz, Lyon’s Malick Fofana and Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku among other options.
Amidst the transfer saga, former Bayern Munich star Giovane Elber has urged the club to sign more South American players to build more dressing cohesion.
“Bayern needs a South American player. Not just because of their footballing quality, but also someone who can create a good atmosphere in the dressing room, so there’s a bit of a sense of relaxation,” he told an interview with German outlet T-Online.

Elber is one of the best players to play for Bayern Munich from South America, as he featured in 266 games and scored 139 goals across seven seasons.
The Brazilian spent the majority of his prime years in Bavaria, winning four Bundesliga crowns, three DFB Pokal titles, and the UEFA Champions League in 2000/01.
During his time, a lot of exceptional South Americans featured for the club, including Lucio, Ze Roberto, and Paulo Sergio.
Later, Martin Demichelis and Claudio Pizarro joined the list of players from the region to leave a long-lasting mark at the Allianz Arena.
Elber names Real Madrid stalwart a perfect fit for Bayern Munich
While Elber urged the German giants to sign South American players, he is doubtful over which available player could elevate the current squad.
However, he eventually picked a Real Madrid star as the one to go for. “I don’t see anyone [playing in South America] at the moment who would help Bayern immediately. It would have to be a Brazilian, for example, who already plays in Europe. Rodrygo? I was just about to mention him. He’s a great player.”
There have been reports of Rodrygo’s perilous situation at Real Madrid, after he was also left out of the team by Xabi Alonso in their Club World Cup semifinal loss to PSG.
A host of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are monitoring him, and Elber wants Bayern Munich to join the race.
Real Madrid have reportedly slapped a €100m [$116.8m] price tag on the 24-year-old and it remains to be seen if Bayern Munich are ready to invest so much on a single player.
