In this series, we take a look at each team and see what they’ve done over the offseason. Next up is the Philadelphia Flyers.
Key additions: Trevor Zegras, Christian Dvorak, Noah Juulsen, Dennis Gilbert, Dan Vladar
The Flyers made a big addition to their offense with Trevor Zegras, who they hope can get his game back on track after a couple rough years in Anaheim. Zegras could play on a line with Christian Dvorak, another middle 6 forward added to provide more offense to this squad. The Flyers made some changes in net once again, adding backup goalie Dan Vladar. They also got some crucial extensions done with core pieces such as Cam York, Noah Cates and Tyson Foerster.
Key subtractions: Ryan Poehling, Olle Lcyksell. Jakob Pelletier
The Flyers have not lost much this summer with the biggest loss being forward Ryan Poehling, who was Philly’s main piece in the Trevor Zegras trade.
Highest draft pick: Porter Martone, 6th overall
Salary cap space: $370k
Staff: Philly Gm Danny Briere brought in Rick Tocchet as a new face behind the Flyers bench next season, replacing the fired John Tortorella and interim Brad Shaw. Tocchet previously coached the Vancouver Canucks the past 3 seasons. He had two stints for the Flyers during his 18 year NHL playing career.
Other: One would think the Flyers are done making moves with their lack of cap space. However, there are still question marks in net with this squad that have been unanswered unless management thinks Dan Vladar is the fix.
