Las Vegas Raiders rookie running back Ashton Jeanty is expected to be a productive player on Day 1 for Pete Carroll’s squad, and a recent prediction has the Boise State product living up to expectations and winning a major award in his debut campaign.
Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey predicts Jeanty will win AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2025.
“Ashton Jeanty was the consensus top running back in the draft and will be the player in which the Raiders drive their offense,” Bailey wrote.
Jeanty will serve as the Raiders’ workhorse back this season and should receive a good amount of touches in both the rush and pass game. If he stays healthy for the full 17-game slate, the 21-year-old should easily surpass 1,000 rushing yards and be the top rookie running back.
Though there are a few rookies who are legitimate threats to Jeanty’s offensive rookie of the year chances, including Tennessee Titans quarterback Cam Ward, Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Travis Hunter, and more, the dynamic running back should be the favorite to capture the award.
Las Vegas should be much improved in 2025 under Carroll, and Jeanty should be one of the most productive backs in football. If the Raiders can boast an above-average offense and string together a respectable season, a few of their players, especially Jeanty, could be in consideration for regular-season awards.
