The New York Yankees have won four games in a row after a bad slump knocked them out of first place in the American League East.
New York has a balanced team, but if they want to be serious playoff contenders, upgrading at the hot corner is essential.
The Yankees have been linked to several third basemen, including Nolan Arenado and Ryan McMahon. However, Arenado may not want to leave St. Louis and is declining.
McMahon would be their best bet but if the Colorado Rockies don’t want to deal with New York, an under-the-radar option from the Baltimore Orioles should be available.
Orioles’ utility infielder Ramón Urías is having a down season but would be a great defensive upgrade for the Yankees.
Urías, 31, has six home runs and 29 RBI while slashing .246/.298/.366 in 66 games this season.

“More likely, the O’s will sell off pieces at the trade deadline,” wrote Mike Axisa of CBS Sports. “Urías is under team control through 2026, he’s a very good defensive player, and he hits lefties hard. He’s a better version of Peraza, basically. Urías would not be the sexiest name for the Yankees, but he would be an upgrade, and it is highly likely he will be available this month.”
The Yankees recently parted ways with veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu and will surely be looking for a replacement in the coming weeks.
