Stephen Curry drops hint about teaming up with former Celtic Al Horford

Al Horford is expected to part ways with the Boston Celtics in free agency after spending the past four seasons with the team, where he won his first NBA Championship in 2024 and served as a veteran leader.

Now, rumors are swirling that he could head to the Western Conference, and Stephen Curry recently dropped a major hint about the possibility of playing with the veteran big man next season.

While competing at the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, Curry was asked about the potential of Horford joining the Warriors, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

“He’s a champion, great player,” Curry said. “When… if, when all that stuff happens, I’ll talk about it.”

While nothing is set in stone, Curry’s response suggests that something could be in the works. Horford has already been linked to the Warriors this offseason, and with his career likely nearing its end, the opportunity to compete for another championship alongside Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green may influence Horford’s decision.

The Warriors are in desperate need of a center, and the five-time All-Star’s ability to stretch the floor would fit well into Golden State’s three-point shooting attack.

Even as Horford enters his 19th season in the league, the 39-year-old remains a productive contributor. He averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 three-pointers and 0.9 blocks across 27.7 minutes per game for the Celtics in the 2024-25 campaign. He also shot 36.3 percent from three-point range.
