The Washington Commanders are currently in a contract dispute with superstar wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
McLaurin, who is in the final year of his deal, skipped mandatory minicamp in June due to the lack of progress in extension talks. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, McLaurin is still unhappy with contract talks.
The Commanders could be forced to trade McLaurin if both sides can’t agree on a long-term deal, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay believes the Las Vegas Raiders are a top landing spot for the standout receiver.
His [McLaurin] ability to produce with any QB in any system makes him the ideal target for Las Vegas to pursue. Even if he only has a limited time to prepare in offensive coordinator Chip Kelly’s scheme following a trade, McLaurin would still find a way to put up numbers and help the Raiders win in 2025 should they put a strong enough offer on the table.
Las Vegas’ offense, led by quarterback Geno Smith and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, could use another dynamic playmaker to pair with tight end Brock Bowers and veteran receiver Jakobi Meyers.
Adding McLaurin to the offense would give the Raiders one of the most talented units in the AFC. With Ashton Jeanty in the backfield and McLaurin, Bowers, and Meyers as the top receiving options, Smith has all the tools around him to succeed in his first season as Las Vegas’ starting quarterback.
According to Over the Cap, the Raiders are set to have $90 million in cap space next offseason, and they also have eight picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, meaning general manager John Spytek has all the resources necessary to facilitate a trade for McLaurin with Washington.
Though McLaurin joining forces with Bowers and Meyers in Las Vegas would be electric, it’s still hard to envision a world where the Commanders trade their superstar receiver and break up the connection between McLaurin and quarterback Jayden Daniels.
