The New York Knicks have been one of the top teams in the league over the past few years, and they could use another boost to bolster their title chances.
Going into next season, there are many uncertainties in the Eastern Conference. After crushing Achilles tears to three stars from the top five teams in the East in the playoffs, the conference appears to be wide open going into next season.
Of course, that puts the Knicks in a great position to challenge for a spot in the NBA Finals. Considering they were only two wins away from their first NBA Finals since 1999 last season, some incremental improvements could be enough to send New York to basketball’s biggest stage.
One potential move the Knicks could make is to sign Malcolm Brogdon. Brogdon, who has won Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year, is one of the most intriguing free agents still available.
In a recent Bleacher Report article predicting landing spots for the remaining top free agents, Eric Pincus projected Brogdon to land on a team like the Knicks or LA Clippers, especially if they strike out on players like Chris Paul. Considering the Knicks’ situation, having another steadying guard off the bench for Mike Brown to go to could be huge.
Jalen Brunson will obviously be the starter and run point for most of each game, but with a reliable backup like Brogdon potentially in the mix, the Knicks could be in a much better position entering the postseason.
