The Milwaukee Bucks have made a major contract guarantee decision on a young guard.
Eric Nehm of The Athletic reports that the Bucks will delay the guarantee date for the $2.2 million contract of shooting guard Andre Jackson Jr. in 2025-26. Though the deal had been non-guaranteed, the Bucks will give Jackson at least some of that money as a thank-you for agreeing to the postponement.
Per a league source, Andre Jackson Jr. and the Bucks have agreed to push back the guarantee date on Jackson’s contract for the 2025-26 season.
In exchange for pushing back the date, a portion of Jackson’s $2.2 million is now guaranteed.

“By moving the guarantee date back, the Bucks will be able to maintain some flexibility as they attempt to fill out the rest of their roster for the 2025-26 season,” Nehm writes.
The guarantee date had previously been set for Monday. Clearly, Milwaukee is still looking to add another piece or two this offseason.
A pair of aging future Hall of Famers, 39-year-old center/power forward Al Horford and 40-year-old point guard Chris Paul, remain on the open market — but it’s certainly not for a lack of suitors. Paul, in particular, could help shore up the Bucks’ backcourt.
Another former multi-time All-Star, Phoenix Suns shooting guard Bradley Beal, is rumored to be eyeing a contract buyout — with the Bucks alleged to be in the mix for his services.

Though the second-year swingman out of the University of Connecticut played sparingly last year (14.6 minutes per), his defensive upside inspired head coach Doc Rivers to start him alongside All-Star Damian Lillard for much of the year.
In 67 healthy regular season contests (43 starts), Jackson averaged 3.4 points on .477/.395/.500 shooting splits, 2.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals per game.
The 6-foot-6 guard, 23, fell out of Rivers’ rotation in the playoffs.
