Red Sox score historic victory for franchise

The Boston Red Sox made a little history Saturday in a season that has left many fans wondering the direction of the franchise.

With a 10-3 victory over the Washington Nationals, the Red Sox reached 10,000 career wins in franchise history.

Romy Gonzalez recorded three hits, Ceddanne Rafaela hit a homer and Walker Buehler picked up the win, as Boston has now won five of seven to get to .500 on the year at 45-45.

They are just the second American League franchise to reach the wins milestone, joining the New York Yankees.

The Red Sox used a seven-run third inning to take control of the Nationals, just like they did in an 11-2 win on Friday over Washington. Jarran Duran had a two-run triple and Roman Anthony drove in a run during the frame.

Rafaela drove in three as Gonzalez had a pair of RBI. Buehler went five innings, striking out two while allowing eight hits and two earned runs. Boston got four scoreless innings from the bullpen, as they allowed just one hit and struck out two without walking a batter.
