The St. Louis Cardinals have an incredible talent in Jordan Walker, but it just hasn’t worked out. Walker has the potential to be an incredible player, but hasn’t reached it after three seasons in the Major Leagues.
Clay Snowden of Just Baseball named Walker as one of the top “change of scenery” trade candidates. While there is still time for Walker to turn his career around, it might be with a different team.
“It’s obvious that the Cardinals and Walker will not work out.” Snowden writes. “St. Louis is good enough to compete, but really already has a foot in the future. Some team needs to bring him in and allow him to get back to his basics and focus on a fresh start.”
If he were to reach his potential, Walker would be an incredible player. Walker had a 70 grade arm, a 55 grade hit tool, 65 grade power, and was a 60 grade overall according to Major League Baseball’s scouting report.
Standing at 6-foot-5, Walker would be an incredible presence on the field if he reached his potential. But, after hitting .210 this season, and .245 through his 760 career at-bats, the Cardinals could decide to move on.

Snowden is urging the Cardinals to end the Walker experiment now and land a return for him while they still can. St. Louis has a lot of talented outfielders in the organization, so losing him wouldn’t be too impactful a loss.
While he’s struggled, a team could look at the 23-year-old and believe they can get something out of him. With players in sports history finding success after a change of scenery, it’s worth a shot for teams looking for outfield talent.
Moving on from Walker would sting, but it could land a nice return. His potential was sky-high, but in St. Louis, he hasn’t reached it. Snowden believes it’s time to move on, and based on his production this year, St. Louis can justify parting ways with their former top prospect.
