Red Sox drop massive update on Alex Bregman’s injury return

The Boston Red Sox have been without Alex Bregman while he recovers from a quad injury that landed him on the injured list. Alex Cora just dropped a major update on the star third baseman.

Bregman went on the injured list on May 24. He has been running the bases as part of his rehab, but he is getting close to making his return. The Red Sox look very different from when he went on the injured list. The team has traded away Rafael Devers since then, and Bregman will have to be the focal point for their offense.

Alex Cora revealed that the team hopes to see Bregman rejoin the squad on their next homestand, according to MassLive’s Chris Cotillo.

“Could Alex Bregman join the Red Sox on the homestand? ‘Hope so,’ says Alex Cora,” Cotillo wrote on X.

The Red Sox’s next homestand will start on July 7 when they take on the Colorado Rockies. They will stay at Fenway Park until the All-Star Break. After three games against the Rockies, they will play the Tampa Bay Rays, one of the hottest teams in baseball over the last month, in a four-game series.

Bregman rejoining the team on Monday would mean he will skip a rehab assignment. He was slashing .299/.385/.553 in 51 games before his injury. The Red Sox are 2 1/2 games back of a wild card spot in the American League. Adding Bregman back could give the team a huge boost as they look to go into the All-Star break with some momentum.
