Real Madrid are prepared to let Rodrygo leave the club this summer if a suitable offer arrives, with Arsenal in talks with representatives of the Los Blancos star, Sporting News understands.
The Brazil international has struggled for minutes in recent months, playing just 23 minutes under Alonso since the Spaniard took charge before the Club World Cup. His only appearance came in a 1-1 draw against Al Hilal on June 18, his first outing for the club in 53 days.
Concerns over Rodrygo’s application in training had already surfaced towards the end of last season under former boss Carlo Ancelotti, though his camp have strongly denied any suggestion of a lack of motivation.
Sporting News understands those concerns were one of the factors behind the decision not to include him in Ancelotti’s first Brazil squad for the Copa America qualifiers last month.
His father and agent, Eric Goes, has also voiced frustration over Rodrygo’s situation at the club, with the 24-year-old often overlooked in favour of Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.
That discontent hasn’t gone down well internally and, combined with a dip in form, has led to growing acceptance that a summer move could be on the cards.

Could Rodrygo leave Real Madrid this summer?
Sporting News has been told that both Madrid and Alonso would not block Rodrygo from leaving, providing an offer meets the club’s valuation of £80million ($109m). Officially, Madrid continue to insist they have no plans to sell the forward and believe he can play a key role in the upcoming season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are one of several clubs keeping tabs on Rodrygo’s situation and have held exploratory talks with his representatives in recent weeks.
Gunners boss Arteta is keen to strengthen his left-sided options, with Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon, Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Chelsea’s Noni Madueke all among the players being looked at.
Meanwhile, Martin Zubimendi’s arrival from Real Sociedad for £55million will also be announced in the coming days.
The Real Sociedad midfielder will join to replace Thomas Partey, who officially left Arsenal when his contract expired on June 30.
