PSG set to honor 315-cap legend with special tribute

Thiago Silva may have left PSG five years ago, but the club is finally preparing to pay tribute to its iconic former captain, according to journalist Bruno Salomon.

Speaking on the 100% PSG Podcast La Tribune on Ici c’est Paris Radio, Salomon revealed ongoing talks between Silva’s camp and the club.

“In any case, with Thiago Silva, there have been negotiations between the club and the player to find a suitable date,” said Salomon.

He further revealed, “But as Fluminense was starting their championship… There is discussion and I think that at some point, I hope that in December when it will be the holidays… There are discussions between PSG and the player and his entourage to find a solution and to bring him in at the right time”

Salomon clarified that December was not an official date, but merely a feeling or opinion he held, based on the Brazilian league calendar with him suggesting that a date around that time could be possible.

The Brazilian center-back has made 315 appearances for PSG between 2012 and 2020, helping the club to 23 trophies, including seven Ligue 1 titles.

Despite this glittering spell, Silva never received a proper farewell and his PSG career ended after the club’s 2020 Champions League final loss to Bayern Munich.

Silva, now back at Fluminense, rejoined the Brazilian side in July 2024. His return has sparked a turnaround, helping the team to reach 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Quarterfinals.
